About me

I was born in Croatia but my passion for dance has taught me that home is where your love is and for many years, my home moved from Switzerland to London and finally to New York City. I danced Latin and Ballroom from an early age and my professional dance training began at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, England. I was trained in the Martha Graham style of dance which suited my deep seated history of wartime suffering and it reflected in my dance which drew my audience closer to me. I learned that dance is the most beautiful expression of life. I allowed life's experiences (from the pleasant to the fearful) to use me in the most intense way, through the expression of the dance. My dream came true when I received a full sponsorship by the Bodum company to Sarah Lawrence - a Liberal Arts College in Westchester, New York. I excelled in the Fine Arts, Psychology, Dance and Art History and Dance Choreography. My obsession was composing duets. I was intrigued by the dance between two people who can use their bodies to communicate deeper than any words can.

I graduated with the highest recommendations and a BA in Dance Psychology and Choreography.

I danced briefly as an intern at Isadora Duncan dance company and started to teach Ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray dance studio in NYC.

My passion for self discovery and insistence on "not" fitting in with any system but my own, has given me invaluable lessons in the complexity of human spirit and realization that the arts, in my case the dancing, is what makes us human. Partner dancing is the most beautiful form of expression - a dialogue between two people in the highest form of intelligence. When one can be sincere and true to their inner guidance, an abstract love is born between two partners who come together to share in the intelligence of their mind, body and soul.

My dance and teaching career truly came full circle under the apprenticeship of yet another extraordinary hero - Mr. Emmanuel Pierre-Antoine, a Rhythm world champion, a renowned dance coach, Ballroom judge and industry leader. My personal development as a dancer and a teacher has deepened through his unapologetic pursuit for the passion of dance and expression. I have learned the true meaning of dedication to one's art, discipline and impeccable work ethic. It was through the highest level of Mr. Pierre-Antoine's dance coaching that I've learned that the truest form of respect you can give to another person is to train them to exceed their own expectations. The gifts of teamwork, mastering body language through movement and intuition to coach another are what I love to share with others. I love to help individuals develop mental, physical and emotional skills to enrich their realities, either through dancing, dance fitness or yoga. What drives me is inspiring people to be passionate about their own transformation, through movement.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Every person is different and has their unique way of learning so my approach is adaptable to the client's needs. I try to learn as much as I can, about the person I am working with, their goals and aspirations. Whether their vision is short-term or long-term, I build a lesson plan that best suits their individual needs and will help them reach their potential.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a passion for dance and movement and passion should be shared. I believe that helping individuals develop physical, mental and emotional skills either through partner dancing, yoga or dance fitness programs can change their lives. I am intuitive and patient and can anticipate my client's needs. I also help understand their perceived limitations and guide them to exceed their own expectations.
My dance background is extensive and I have a lot of knowledge but more importantly, experience to offer. I was Ballet trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, England and I have a BA in Dance and Psychology from Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester, NY.
I am also a Yoga enthusiast and the practice helped me understand the physicality but also the language of the human body. I have a 200 hr Yoga Teaching Certification from the Abhyasa Yoga Center in Brooklyn, NY, specializing in Yoga Therapy. In addition, I have over 15 years of experience in learning from the best in Ballet Floor Barre, Pure Barre, Physique 57 and Pilates and 20 years of experience in dance performance. I am happiest when I can share my gifts with others and watch them transform.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with children, single men who wanted to learn how to dance with anyone, couples as well as wedding couples, homosexual couples and single women. I have also worked with perfectly healthy individuals as well as some with difficult health conditions such as cancer and muscle atrophy.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The most important thing is to understand what kind of a dance experience you would like to have and what your goals are.
